Who are we?

The official Yae!Tiger story began in 2008 in a sweaty apartment in Camperdown, Sydney where over Stone’s Ginger Wine, NBA JAM and Franks Pizza five people got together to play beaten up acoustic ditties written and recorded by two people during their Latin American adventures. During that time, these songs were transformed from their humble beginnings to roaring shitzu beasts.

Brooke Cotton came up with the name Yae!Tiger in Oaxaca City Mexico in the summer of 2007. Yae being the name of a friend, The exclamation point stolen from The Go! Team and Tiger a reference to “Tiger Mask” the 1980s Japanese wrestling champion based on a manga comic of the same name.

Yae!Tiger is an ongoing collaboration of Bengal Hay, Brooke Cotton, Cat St Clare, Dwayne Barry, Jack Hanner, Jill Reeves, Johnny Sunshine, and Vincent Scagnetti. With the help of various inebriated friends along the way, Yae!Tiger have been privy to playing some of their favourite venues in Sydney, Newcastle and Canberra with some of their favourite bands.

Yae!Tiger’s debut album CASUALTY OF THE AVALANCHE has been made possible by the energy, patience and hard work of all the people listed above. What began as a 5 track EP to be released in 2010, has grown into a schizophrenic record that was recorded with much TLC in the confines of our homes and rehearsal spaces.

CASUALTY OF THE AVALANCHE is out independently from February 25th 2011 and is available to buy at shows, via email yae_tiger@mail.com, Bandcamp and iTunes.
